Impossible wraps Primeval in Dublin
November 1, 2010
After almost eight months of filming in and around Dublin, Impossible Pictures has finally wrapped shooting on the latest series of Primeval. Series four and five were filmed concurrently – 13 hour-long episodes in total – for co-production partners ITV, ProSieben, BBC Worldwide, BBC America and UKTV. Series four – which comprises seven episodes – will premiere on ITV early in the new year, while UKTV’s Watch will transmit the fifth series (six episodes) in mid-2011.
Commenting on the latest series, Executive Producer Tim Haines says, “The new series is, by far, the best yet and we’re really proud of what we’ve done. The non-stop action and the cast of monsters and creatures in each episode are going to blow audiences away and the fans are really going to be excited and amazed.”
Continues Haines: “Primeval is a huge production for a UK show. Thirteen episodes at over £1million per episode, filmed in HD for the first time means that the production values are higher, bigger and better than ever.”
Commenting on the shoot itself, Producer Tim Bradley says: “We had a wonderful, hugely talented cast and crew who all worked extremely hard to bring the series in on time and on budget. We are all very proud of what we have achieved here in Dublin and the opportunities offered by this exciting city, and I am sure audiences in the UK and around the world are going to be delighted and enthralled – and a little surprised – by what they see!”
Primeval 4 & 5 sees the return of regular cast members Ben Miller, Hannah Spearritt, Andrew-Lee Potts, Jason Flemyng, Lucy Brown and Ben Mansfield as well as newcomers Alexander Siddig (Clash of the Titans, 24), Ciarán McMenamin (Last Confessions of Alexander Pearce, Sunday), Ruth Bradley (Love/Hate), Jonathan Byrne (Fair City), Anton Lesser (Little Dorrit) and Ruth Kearney (Shark City).
Previous series of Primeval have been sold through BBC Worldwide to over 45 countries including Australia, New Zealand, Japan, France, Spain, Italy, Russia and South Korea.
