Tim Haines

Creative Director

Tim Haines started his career as a journalist before joining BBC Science in 1988 as assistant producer on Tomorrow’s World. Since then he has been involved in many science series including QED and Horizon.  He created and produced the ground-breaking, multi-award winning series Walking With Dinosaurs and was associate producer on a major TV adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Lost World whilst at the BBC.

Since Impossible Pictures was founded in 2001 Tim has been creator and producer of most of its major projects including Ways to Save the Planet, Space Odyssey: Voyage to the Planets and Perfect Disasters.  He has also built on his experience of Lost World and moved the company into drama, producing The Legend of the Tamworth Two (An Impossible/Box TV Co-production), and a modern re-make of Frankenstein. Tim is also the co-creator and executive producer, with Adrian Hodges, of the hit series Primeval which is now in its fifth series.

Tim is the creative leader of Impossible Pictures, working closely with commissioners for key broadcasters all over the world and with the executive producers for both drama and factual in developing new programmes, as well as overseeing all of Impossible’s active productions. His considerable experience of producing ground-breaking programmes and bringing high-end effects to the small screen drives the company’s ambition to produce high quality programmes taking the audience to places they’ve never been before.
