Zoologist and adventurer Nigel Marven takes us on a prehistoric safari in search of the mysterious owner of a gigantic 28-inch claw.
Nigel has a precarious mission ahead. Travelling back 75 million years to Mongolia, his quest is to track down a Therizinosaurus, a dinosaur with monstrous claws and an arm as long as a man is tall. While he tracks down this elusive “carnivore”, Nigel meets a variety of dinosaurs that lived in this unique habitat, including some that even he wants to avoid! Negotiating the hazards of the Cretaceous is no walk in the park, and Nigel finds himself in the path of some accomplished hunters. Will he live to discover the true nature of his quarry?
The Giant Claw introduced a presenter interacting with spectacular CGI dinosaurs for the first time, allowing the audience to easily see the true scale of the creatures. The programme won a BAFTA TV award for best visual effects in 2003.
