A comic drama following the real life escape of two Tamworth pigs from an abattoir and how a national media frenzy eventually saved their bacon.

In 1988 as they were being unloaded from an abattoir van, two pigs suddenly made a dash for freedom. Dubbed the Tamworth Two, they spent a week on the run and, as the public went pig potty, a legend was created. This is their story – straight from the pig’s mouths.

Butch and Sundance, our heroes, set off in search of their mother, pursued by their buffoonish owner and an incompetent local policeman, encountering a mysterious and wise Wild Boar along the way. As the pigs’ story spreads across the globe, it attracts the attention of Wolf, a professional pig-catcher, who intends to hunt them down…

A co-production with Box TV The Legend of the Tamworth Two is Impossible Pictures’ first full drama production and an ambitious project using real pigs whose movements were captured by computer technology and enhanced to create human characteristics and voices. It was first shown in a prime time family slot on BBC1, Easter Monday 2004.

An Impossible Pictures and Box TV co-production for BBC Wales, Box TV, in association with the Isle of Man Film Commision.
